For me, the best part of the team was the ability to recover the ball deep in opposition half and halfway line. Everyone chipped in for defense. We still need to improve on Gagos ball distribution accuracy and perhaps balls from the back line as well. Though he was great in setting up the goals and made some great tackles, Di Maria seems a bit lost when we are not counter attacking and just holding the ball passing it around. Mascherano still our best midfielder and we are so lucky to have him on the team. Banega seems a lot slower and covers less ground than Gago. We still have work to do in the mid field to be world class.

@Jack!

If you read my comment on the rating page, you'll understand what I am going after. To make it easier for you, I said that the average score for the players at the Sweden game was 7 to me. I just felt that Gago was 6-7 and the reason could be the fact that the F4 gave such an amazing first half which gave them a score between 8-10

Quite frankly our first half was magnificent without being so detailed as the ball lost by DiMaria. Gago, Mascherano, and DiMaria were MVP! Watch the rebroadcast! All the correct substitutions were made even though they changed and slowed downed the gameplay. They weren't clicking with the core as great as the starting XI. I honestly don't think Messi will be subbed ever if possible. They almost never do it at Barcelona so I don't see how this will happen at NT Level. Gago and Mascherano are going to the World Cup as starting XI unless they face injuries. Overall the squad did good. The only 2 players that had an off game were Romero and Fernandez however they are both pretty consistent back there and still building the back. I can agree that we need work on our set pieces and Romero on the crosses. Lol. I can't wait for the next game. Sabella is looking like a boss and true tactician. Do you guys realize the amount of games we've won since the sloth took over? Unbeaten streak? Top teams beaten? Argentina looks fricking great! We can argue about other players that need be involved but why?? Let the man do his job as he's doing it well. Vamo Vamo !

Oh okay Abs, Gago will find his feet. He will get better and better. He has become a very important piece of our puzzle. Gago is back home now, I am sure he will spend these months recharging himself and getting ready to move to Europe again. If not, I am happy with him in Argentina.

A comfortable win over Sweden that was much easier than expected (Sweden won againt England and drew 4-4 against Germany recently). Argentina played as a team and the forwards helped to defend. The team still looks a bit vulnarable when they lose the ball upfront. A midfield with Mascherano, Gago, Banega and Lamela would be a better support for Messi and Aguero up front. However, the Fav4 are so impressive that no defence in the world (not even Italy) will be able to stop them from scoring. Garay and Fernandez looked solid except for corner kicks, I would suggest that Sabella sticks with them. Zabaleta was not exposed like in other games, because Sweden did not put pressure on the ball. I would like to see Argentina against a team that does put pressure on them like the Netherlands. Most troubling now is the goalkeeper. Romero is afraid to come out during high balls and corners. He is a good line keeper, but away from the goal line he is unstable. Sabella should give other keepers a chance.

For the next match I would like to see a line up:
Caballero
Peruzzi – Garay – Fernandez – Ansaldi
Banega – Gago – Mascherano
Lamela
Messi - Aguero

I also really liked Gago,Banega and Campagnaro alot in this game.
Campagnaro really gives me a safe feeling when he plays. I want Ansaldi to do well!

Pablo's Dracula comment "rolls around laughing and chokes" that super hilarious.
I was happy with the team today. If we took the chances given to us it should have been 6-2, Messi was definitely robbed goal.
We seem to be starting to click...the set pieces DEFINITELY need some work, everytime we had one didnt feel comfortable. These are very fixable problems and i guess with practice when the national team meets regularly will be fixed. I understand only seeing these players 2 days before a game or less sometimes its difficult to work on EVERYTHING. I would have loved if we put away those chances ...i have a special dislike for Sweden after their ugly display in 2002. Defend for 90 mins...score a free kick (the night mares!)

I must have seen a different game. Gago ran his socks off.. and remember its just him and Masch covering for Fav4.. so its EXPECTED those two will be tired after first half.. to me Gago was MVP.

@Jack!

Sorry man, but allow me explain it..
Gago's vision was 9/10
Accuracy was 6/10
Stamina was 6/10 (I mean he wasn't running after ball and so on)
So here you go, he was a 6.5 to me !!

What I liked from the game:

- Argentina played the first half like they were playing for years, just amazing.
- The player had passion to the shirt, and we can see that clearly by the reaction of the players after Sweden scored the second goal.
- Up front was just brilliant, they knew how to score a goal, and they made it look so easy that they can score whenever they like.
- Zabaleta did actually played a game like he usually do with Man City.

What I didn't like:

- Gago was totally out of form, except when clicking with Messi.
- Even though the defense line was ok, but they give you that feeling that they aren't the best.
- We are so bad at set pieces.. I know the second goal was just a fire shot, but still we were so bad at those.
- I didn't like that the players decided to shut of after the 60th min or at most 70th min. I know it is only a friendly, and the game was pretty much secured.
- But that's when we should try new faces, Lamela, or Pastore should've replaced Messi by the 70th min, but Mr. Sabella decided not to call any.
- Ansaldi didn't get his chance to prove he is 100 times better than Rojo.

jack i totally agree on romero, he scares me on any high balls.
as the saying goes "they call him dracula as hes scared of crosses"
i would like to see cal be given a chance just to make rom up his game.

Personally, I think we should more than 3. Maybe's kun goal was offside(guess it makes up for Messi goal that should of counted) but Kun should of put away that other chance he had. Call me greedy, I wanted so much more. But when we were hitting our strive we were amazing.

And Kenny G, I think Romero has the tendency to make one too many blunders. I am ever the happy go lucky guy, but Romero issue is when the ball is being crossed he drops many balls. He is good at 1-1's and closed range shots. He has saved us many times but also has gifted goals. He needs to step it up.

Excellent first half. Good control, passing and possession. 3 goals in first 25 minutes is a very good start for 2013.

Hi gus,

Can any one give review about:
1. how's the game as a team? I didn't watch the whole game, maybe just last 10 mins, not including injury time.

2. Like all our goals didn't happen "smoothly" Higuin's first goal got help by reflection, his second goal was "given" by swedish goal keeper and Aguero's goal is like offside but still goals are goals.

3. How's the subs since Sabella gave them enough time to play?

We gave up a goal on set pieces, 1 a CK that needed to be handled properly and the other a FK. The FK i get, sometimes there is nothing you can do(even though Romero could of actually stopped it) but the CK's need to be fixed. Romero has the tendency to drop a couple balls here and there.

I am pleased with the game, no problems, no issues.

did we not say about how important the fab 4 are as we cant fully trust the mid and defense to keep the score to zero.

Great first half from the boys, true tango style! the second half came to a grinding halt (except for wonderful gago pass that kun should've put in).
All in all good result against a solid side and too bad about that second sweden goal, really soured the match for me.

that second for swiden was beyond flattering a complete change in the back line wen sitting on a lead i could see it coming swiden are huge players that wouldnt have happened if the backline wasnt changed around so much but thats exactly what freindlys are for
