Mauro ICARDI with 4 goals, ZABALETA, more

Mauro ICARDI, Pablo ZABALETA, Eduardo SALVIO, Lucas CASTRO and Emanuel HERRERA all scored for their clubs.

An amazing 4 goals by Mauro ICARDI for Sampdoria as they won 4-0 against Pescara. It was announced earlier in the week that ICARDI had been offered a chance to play for Italy but turned it down saying he wants to play for Argentina. Mauro ICARDI is Argentine and Italy needs to stay away.

Pablo ZABALETA scored the only goal of the match for Manchester City in their 1-0 win against Stoke.

Lucas CASTRO scored the game winning goal for Catania in their 2-1 win against Fiorentina.

Emanuel HERRERA scored Montpellier's first goal in their 2-0 win against Sochaux.

Eduardo SALVIO scored for Benfica as they won 2-1 against Braga.

People who try to pin every new talent with a "the next [...]" lack imagination. They see something new and immediately want to categorize it using old descriptions they already know and are comfortable with.

I love Maradona. I love Messi. Messi is not the next Maradona. Messi is something NEW, something different. He is his own entity. We've never seen another player like him.

Guys who talk about Lamela. IMHO, he's overrated. Lamela of River was better than the current one. Some would his not playing in his real position as an OM. Even though, he has the talent, but still lacks the confidence of magical ones like Messi, therefor, he'd never be a one.
And if there's a glimpse of a chance that there'd be a new Messi, he'd be from Boca.

Bosteros way :D

No he is on loan, he is sold to Samp. Barca will get 15% of of a future sale though.

Copy pasting....some funny comment about Prandelli regarding Icardi callup.

Prandelli seems intent on making the national team a united nations team. Icardi is a fine talent, but Italy have enough young strikers coming through, so we don't need any 'outside help'. Selecting Icardi would be a kick in the teeth for the Italian-born players.

Also I heard that he is on loan from Barca...is that true?

Yeah @Kenneth, that header was powerful for such a little guy. He is stronger than he looks.

As for not seeing another great after Messi.. I am not saying which player is better.. but ALLSTARS come around every 5 years or so, (Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Christiano, Zidane, Messi, Maradona, Batistuta, etc, etc) what is rare is to see allstars that dominate for so long and constantly improve year after year. At his peak, Ronaldinho was magical, but he faded.. at his peak Ronaldo was unstoppable but he broke, at his peak Zidane was timeless but he peaked very late in his career. To me players like Maradona and Messi are special because they maintain an elite level every game they play. We are very fortunate to have the two latest monsters be Argentine.

@ Jack! So true, there has never been a player like Messi who can Emphasize the number 9 role to the max and the number 10 role again to the max. AND HE KEEPS GETTING BETTER, his headers are unreal idk if anybody watched the osasuna game (not just the highlights) but he had a header off the post in which he was heavily marked but completely out jumped and muscled his defender, the guy doesn't even make sense at times.

One thing about Icardi and Italy trying to call them. And I will quote Tupac here and pardon the language.

"You better back the #### up before you get smacked the #### up".

I agree with Johnny, there is no next Messi. Understand something, what we are witnessing is something we may not witness again maybe ever.It could be a long, long, long time until another player like this emerges. It's unreal how good Messi is, it just is. The likes of Lamela or any other good player coming is one thing, but Messi, nobody touches Messi.

El Principe, I agree Lamela is a special player. I put my nickle on him to be our next youth revelation. He just needs a good team that plays him consistently and at his strengths.. aka Messi and Barca.

I think the next Messi is not Juan Iturbe. It is this guy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lf9nMQFOs8

Erik Lamela

Watch the tape. The 20 year old Lamela played like the 20 year old Messi in 2007 (right before the world cup).

The similarity is just like Manu Ginobili and James Harden.

Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport said Icardi soon gets a call up from Argentina so it is unlikely that he gets to play for Italia.

Hope it's true.

I heard Prandelli is trying to get him to play for Italy....I am getting extremely annoyed with Italian FA.
So their new policy is to try and convert all talented argentines in Italy into Azzuri players?
I mean i can understand smaller countries.
Its a slap in the face of their youth development. I may be alone here but its starting to piss me off...

@Kenneth-Sampdoria bought Icardi. I would bet Barca saw his potential, but they can't keep everybody.

Angel Di Maria WAS bad before the last 2 matches. The lsat 2 matches he improved just like he was last year. 2 goals and 2 assists in the last 3 matches (plus one own goal by the opponents from his corner). It is just the right time. He is a very very important piece for Sabella's squad. Sabella said it a lot of times. We do need him in the national team especially after I watched Messi scoring 4 goals last night. Messi's offensive game depends a lot on two things: central midfielders who make quick passes and wingers who came from behind so Messi can make diagonal passes.

That is why Messi and Tevez can NOT work together because Tevez doesn't make quick passes. He tends to want and hold the ball just like his idol, Riquelme. Tevez game is like "give me the ball and you find an empty space and I will get the ball for you."

Tevez also can not run from the wings like wingers like Pedro/Adriano/Alves/Tello/Villa/Di Maria do.

I think out of our regular starters, based on the last few games: Zabaleta, Messi, Di Maria, and Romero are in their top forms. Higuain and Aguero's form aren't that good now, but I believe they are OK.

IMO with the addition of Ansaldi at left back who is a very offensive LB a good midfield/ offense would be Gago/Masch/Banega or BIGLIA (preferred) and a Higuian /Messi/Di Maria Trident, as much as i love Aguero and think that he plays the best with Messi i feel like we need more of a number 9 in their with some height. Also the reason why i chose Di maria to start instead of Aguero is the link up play down the flanks with with Ansaldi and Di Maria (assuming it works out more hoping)

Matches won or lost in midfield. Since the defense is little less shaky..I want Sabella to tamper & tinker midfield ASAP.

@ Haman i thought Icardi was on loan? Did sampdoria buy him?

@ Messi, Peruzzi played for Argentina as a right back, but he's so versatile and tbh mature for a defender at the age of 19 that he plays CB for Velez and well can play almost any defensive position, his best attributes are his ability to mark so well and his positioning. IDK if he is a great tackler yet because his positioning is so damn good...Shut down Neymar

Poachers that move fast could fit just like pedro and Villa @msi2 and doesnt matter if they play on the sides coz they're always switching positions.

Wish if Icardi could keep it up and maintain this performance, where he could be the best sub for Higuain. A real poacher with excellent moves.
How could Barca leave such a player. I bet they're regretting it right now.

Lamela, Icardi and Perruzi are the best fresh blooded candidates that could make it to 2014, if Sabella has a sense of sanity.

Love to see icardi score four goals, best thing is he wants to play for argentina.perruzi is now in the national team its fascinating to see how zaba will save its r.back position.sabella starts to give a very tough competition to each national team player in regards to their position. I just love it. Vamos argentina
