I agree, Gago has suffered at clubs.. politics, injuries, politics, bad luck, who knows. But wearing the natinal team he is inspired and deserves the starting role regardless of club form beacuse of how much he has given the national team in the last 3 year cycle. When Banega and company impress us every time they enter the pitch (as subs) then we should consider them as replacements.. much how Aguero did every time he played he shined and has not won a fab-4 spot. Banega is all smoke until he earns our trust. I dont understand why people hold so much hope on him, there are many other players out there as good without half the drama.

I think Gago is bound to return to Boca sooner rather than later.

Gago never really played that well for his club in recent years, he's had sporadic games for them, but when he puts on that Jersey of the N/T he comes alive, and really thats all i care about.

They must've been waiting for confirmation from his Velez before they'd officially release his name. Although I'm almost certain that he won't play after all he's third in the pecking order.
Banega is inconsistent and that's always been his problem, I personally would take gago over him any day of the week and will continue to do so until the kid {Di-maria] starts performing at his best with consistency.
The team's midfield will only become strong if another midfielder is added because 2 midfielders just won't cut it even if masch and gago work like dogs.

@Abds @leandro guys Im talking about the recent performance Gago isn't at his best now, while Banega is putting in great performance since he started playing again, where Tino Cosa is performing better than both, but unfortunately he hasn't been called.
Banega would support Mascherano defensively and Dimaria would be a plus to our attack or evening dropping back fast with his pace.

By the way, Peruzzi is a great add to the great selection already .. Sabella finally grew some balls to start calling the one who deserve to be there. But again, few names before the world cup and we should be all set !!

Not going to mention any :p

@Leandro:

Damn man, you beat me to that, it was in my head once I read Haman's formation.

However, I can say for sure, that Haman would chose to go with Tino over Di Maria, but since he wasn't called he didn't have any other option.

But again, Haman formation should at least have Gago instead of Banega, and with Ansaldi back there, I think Di Maria can do fine against Sweden !!

@haman, I feel that if you are gonna play that diamond 4-3-3. a) Banega is too slow to cover that much ground and b) DiMaria is too weak and undiciplined to track back and defend. This will expose Mascherano and get him yellow carded out of every other game.

Switch DiMaria for a real well rounded midfielder that will defend (Costa, Biglia, Jonas, Min~o, etc) and swap Banega for Gago whom is faster, fitter and consistent and then we have a fighting chance.

Our defense is young but worthy,
Our forwards have no equals,
Our goalie has done well,
Our coach is sane,
Our fans are loyal,
WE HAVE MESSI!!
Our weakness is midfield.. until we get two more players to match or surpass the performances of Mascherano and Gago we will struggle.

Only way we'll see Peruzzi is an injury to Zaba and Camp or in a 5-3-2

i see that guy below has chosen the diego formation the 4-1-2-1-2 with banaga in the veron role ,i like and am too in favor of it ,diego went to far with two wigers and masch on his own as soon as you change that its far more stable i thought at wc banaga instead if maxi or veron for that roll....

or 433 with fantastic 4 but i think he may play 442

t's a friendly therefore, I hope Sabella goes with testing some of those new calls.

If could look like that:

------------------------------Romero

---Perruzzi--------------Fernandez--Garay------------------Ansaldi

-----------------------------Mascherano

-------------------Banega-----------------DiMAria

-----------------------------Messi

---------------------Higuain---------Aguero

Im all with the diamond midfield!

Great prospect, could be Argentina's answer to Zanetti, if only he'll be given a chance to play and not just warm the bench
