News from training for U20 team

With the South American Youth Championship beginning on Wednesday, we have some news on who could be starting for Argentina.

With the team training in Mendoza, coach TROBBIANI set-up a mini match between the squad. The two teams were between the 11 players who could potentially be starting against Chile and the substitutes. The winning team was the "potential starters", as they won 2-1 with both goals coming from Racing Club player Luciano VIETTO. Federico CARTABIA (of Valencia) scored the only goal for the "substitutes".

Here was the players which made up the "potential starters" team:

Walter BENITEZ; Lucas ROMERO, Lautaro GIANNETTI, Lisandro MAGALLAN, Carlos RUIZ; Matías KRANEVITTER, Alan RUIZ, Manuel LANZINI, Juan ITURBE; Ricardo CENTURION and Luciano VIETTO.

With TROBBIANI testing out those players, it's possible that it could be the line-up to face Chile on Wednesday.

Alam, I don't think we will be having the player ratings, but match reports as well as match highlights we will be having, that is for sure.

Congratulations, Messi!!! God bless you! Even though the voting was held before he broke Muller's record...

I'm pretty sure that Messi will also win 5th consecutive ballon d'or next year. The one time I was not so sure is when Spain won the WC and we exit in disgrace...... Now, no one can stop Messi this year.

If you want to know who voted for who goal.com has published the list http://www.goal.com/en/news/1785/fifa-ballon-dor/2013/01/07/3656082/casillas-picks-ramos-over-ronaldo-gerrard-backs-messi-who

I don't know if a new captain for Portugal that replacing CR during the voting time is intentional or not, but highly suspicious.

Appropriate for Messi is the only word i can think of, to cap a record 4 Fifa world players of the year in a row is appropriate for such a record breaking year.

Pedro (Tello, Cuenca, ...) is 'regular Barca starter' but 'limited specialized player'. He has no chance to become a key figure at the team. Thats why he is less accomplished then Centurion & Iturbe.

@ El Millionario Although i believe and truly hope that Iturbe has the talent to become the next Messi, by no means can you say that Iturbe & Centurion are accomplished players then the likes of Pedro, a regular Barca starter who also started for Spain when they won the world cup, and Tello who is getting regular time for Barca.

It is more like 'Barcelona-2011-12' formation.

Lanzini <- Iniesta
Alan Ruiz <- Xavi
Kranevietter <- Busquets
Romero <- Keita
Gianetti-Magallan-Ruiz <- Alves-Masche-Abidal

Only difference is classical "9" Vietto. Also both "nuevo Messi" and "nuevo Di Maria" as extremos. Iturbe & Centurion are more accomplished players then Tello, Pedro and Cuenca.

Was Lucas Romero really played as 'lateral'? I dont think so. 3-2-4-1 or 3-2-2-3

---------------- Benitez ----------------
------ Gianetti - Magallan - Ruiz -------
----------------------- Kranevietter -----
---------- Romeero -----------------------
Iturbe ---- Lanzini - Ruiz ------ Centurion
----------------- Vietto -----------------
