Posted on 10/27/2012 at 4:29 AM 0 Zarate had 1 good year in Lazio and that was it. He was never driven for the love of the game he was driven by money. Which is funny because he came from wealth. It's a shame, he never became as good as his brother Sergio either. Who was probably one of the fastest players I recall. Sergio would fight for everything, Maurito not so much. But can't really blame somebody for being driven by money. I personally think he would flourish if he just left Italy and came down to Brasil or even came back home to Argentina(Which I doubt anybody could afford him even that is).

Campagnero deserves all the high stats he's been getting and then some! the guy is downright amazing, I personally would have him as a centre back, but he could also do a decent right back's job (better than zabaleta).

Sometimes we say "they did not deserve to lose " based on the teams actual performance ..but at the end of the day the score sheet is a stati...and since we are suckers as far as stats go .. Seems like the site has gone over board with all the number crunching i think The site gives a fare indication of where teams and players are at .i was a bit skeptical at first but leaning towards " the believers " . I am no footbal analyst but now it makes sense why lady cris was "sad " ..lol !!!

Posted on 10/25/2012 at 3:41 PM 0 Argentina's defensive problem can only be solved when sabella replaces one of the fav 4 with a good midfielder... banega is showing good promise even coming late as a sub.. cant wait to see him in the starting xi for valencia.. he wears their no 10 jersey., and no 10 is always for special one.. regarding lamela he is good but not yet ready to be in the starting xi for NT.. but i would love to have him, biligia, gaitan on the bench

Pekerman mentioned that he took Lionel Scaloni as a RB over Javier Zanetti in 2006, because of dressing room and commitment issue. Its surprising about Zanetti and commitment. I remember he was mad at Veron in 2002 game against Sweden, which Argentina had to win to go to 2nd round and fell with Veron since Veron had no urgency and screamed at him at 83rd minute (was 1-1) for being too slow to take a corner kick. We will never know all details and hear about half cooked stories or a particular version. But again, every team has issues but they still win major trophies.

Was watching the game inter vs partizan ..and cambiassio is awesome .. He played cb for the first 20 min and now playing dm .. I guess it's the chemistry in the locker room that is keeping him off the n/t ..

Given a prominent role by the new coach, he has seized upon it, averaging 3.1 shots, 2.7 key passes and 1.9 completing dribbles per game as he constantly looks to threaten opponents from his nominal right sided role. Providing an entirely different set of skills to either Francesco Totti or Pablo Osvaldo, the former River Plate man is Serie A’s best young player right now. Somehow, I am thinking this guy has a better chance to breakthrough than Pastore. Pastore again had a lazy performance.

Posted on 10/25/2012 at 12:26 PM 0 @Kutz, Campagnero for Napoli is a beast as a CB. His stats are indeed world class (# of interceptions, etc). Good on the ground, solid in the air, a physical intimidator, great positioning and he is also very skilled with the ball. He is a slightly older player, but for his position that is by no means a problem. He reminds me of Puyol with a little better footwork. I would start him every game.

And lady Cristina is at #32 .. But I guess the site looses its credibility when they have campagnario as centre back for their all all star team based solely on all kinda complicated stats .. I just love argentian and their brand of football and don't pretend to be an expert , can some one check out the site,your comments will be appreciated ..

The reason I know, I heard from an interview of Pekerman, long after the WC is as follows: Its the Germany game in 2006, Roman was tiring, his muscles were getting stiff. Lucho was his deputy, he was given the duty to dictate the pace and game for the remaining 12 mins and as a matter into extra time. He completely failed and choked. Cambiasso had to take the responsibility of taking the midfield even though Lucho was there. Pretty much nailed his career in NT. He never could graduate from a deputy.

His first speel in Porto was considered as excellent and his second term seems to be as good. He's a good club player but the fact is he has been a disapointment with the NT for the most part.

But as others have said, we need to focus on the future; Lamela, Min~o, etc would make more sense. I feel that if we are to bring in veteran players, they should be world class; Aimar, Samuel, Zanetti are examples of names a notch above Lucho and even they are not getting called.

As simple as that. The only time Lucho was good with the NT was during Bielsa's era (like Tevez btw). The rest of his spell was just a sorry effort...

Sabella already have Gago, which works well with F4 beside have in the waiting (sub) list the names of Barcos,Perez,Guinazu, Sosa and Martinez. It's more realistic to try in the next friendly games the younger players such as Mino and Lamela, Really looking for a surprise line up in Albiceleste next game. Hopeful for this thing happens

Posted on 10/24/2012 at 10:00 PM 0 Just to give Masch a little support, that goal was only partly his fault.. the player that head the ball was not the man he was marking, he was the supporting defender in that play.. would a taller player like Federico done better, probably.. but I would not be to harsh on Mascherano for that goal, it deflected of him.

No doubt, he will bring great impact and more creativity and option for the team; can be place and operates as a winger. Pastore shine today with PSG as his dynamic movement and ball passing is very good only unlucky with the outside trap.Just hope that Ancelloti will trust him and train him well to be the next PSG great player and outcome the shadow of Ibra. Although Pastore position will be challenge by the upcoming of Lucas Mohra in January. @Mr.D, you got my point . Mascherano is more suitable as CDM not in pure CBs role. He need a full support from good CB either from Puyol and Piquet at Barca or Garay and Fernandez at N/T. That works well. Anyway,the good thing is he got a chance to play in many position and improved.

Barcelona can get away with someone his height because they give up very few corners and rarely have to deal with crosses in their own box. Where Mascherano plays on the pitch as a CB for Barcelona and as a CDM for Argentina are almost geographically identical.

Man City, Anderlect and Madrid will have a tough games abroad tonight.and lets see Pastore play against Zagreb

I will give him time, and time is what he needs, nothing more. Continue to play, get stronger mentally and you will make it not only with PSG but also with the NT.

I don't think he's NT material yet but I understand what Sabella sees him: his dribbling, his speed, his size. The main thing I took away from the Benfica/Spartak game was how good Pareja looked. Looked worthy of a spot on the Argentina bench. @vik, there's a reason they call Pastore "Flaco." He's be broken into pieces in a Yaya Toure role. The main thing that's put Kaka into oblivion is Mourinho. Will Pastore ever be a key piece of the NT? It's looking more and more unlikely but if he can be given that advanced midfielder role on a consistent basis he might be able to make a name for himself. He's only 23.

Pastore should of been quick to notice that and should of moulded his game around someone else. not necessarily silva but more yaya yaya toure. elegant, has the passing and dribbling ability. yet is able to retrieve the ball. i have said this before in another column; i am afraid not much else from this guy. 2 things will happen to this guy in the next 2 years: 1. he returns to italy (lesser team) 2. he gets loaned back to argentina or even Brasil. (his position is more suited there)
