Hugo CAMPAGNAO or Clemente to start

After training, Alejandro SABELLA stated in his press conference that it will either be Hugo CAMPAGNARO or Clemente RODRIGUEZ starting for the injured Marcos ROJO.

The team will line-up in a 4-3-3 with the same players who started against Uruguay. The only change will be either Hugo CAMPAGNARO or Clemente RODRIGUEZ starting instead of Marcos ROJO. Gonzalo HIGUAIN is fit and will start the match.

Notoraj I totally agree, la paz has often been a grave for many great teams, but its also up to the coach to predict such things and act accordingly.
Uruguay were very unlucky with 2 of the toughest away games coming in back to back, plus all the injuries that they had.
Speaking of away games, I really hope the Albiceleste can manage a win today cos the toughest away games are yet to come (Aruguay, Bolivia and Equador) no to mention a home game against Colombia, which will be tricky!

off topic, La Paz shud NOT be venue for a football match!!!!! Damn You Maradona!! 3,650 m above sea level is not a joke. Look what hapend to Uruguay 70 minutes and poor Uruguay is 0-4 down.

-camp-fen-gary-zabal-
--------masch---------
----gago--------------
----------------dimar---
--------messi----------
---------------kun-----
--------higuain-----------

its looking more like a high speed 4-3-1-2 by the day i love how sabella has kept the back end the same and allows more movement and shape in the forward areas dimarias lungs and pace do make sense there rather than yet another DM

I prefer to see DiMaria on the right, Aguero left and Messi behind Higuain.

If Campagnaro starts Zabaleta will be likely moved to the left. Campagnaro in my opinion is better that Zabaleta defensively which could prove useful in an away game against the Chile side that desperately needs to win. Also, as someone already pointed out Zabaleta will probably be a bit more restrained on the left which again makes sense from defensive point of view.

I hope Argentina improves on their away record this time in this WC qualifier. I have high hopes after seeing how the team played in the last match and now Chile is in trouble plus the players' suspension, let's get the 3 points.

@shafat salam bhai,
German Denis will not go to Inter by this January as Atalanta have permanent deal and will not let him go anywhere, and he is at 30's now n I feel Sabella prefer younger talents. yes,I agree that Denis is outstanding just did not get a chance to play in high level team.
My opinion for Barcos, he is doing good as a subs and will be useful if we have a hard pyhisical games as he will be ready for combative type play, beside one of the domestic base best available striker; Barcos scoring ability are excellent.I believe he can give an impact substitution for the team. Hope for the best will be coming soon

Kenneth and Cleanball

i'm not convinced of barcos yet lets see what he does

maybe denis might get a call if he goes to inter and lights it up ; sabella might not notice an atalanta player but definitely an inter player wont go unnoticed

anyway , insua and ansaldi , how they are doing lately?

Some forums and article say that Sabella's Argentina is similar to Barcelona especially because we won the possession close to 70-30 against Uruguay. I disagree with that. Spain, not Argentina, is very similar to Barca. They also play 4-3-3 with false number 9 (sometimes Pedro is their false #9). Argentina for me is similar to Real Madrid instead. Both are deadly in counter attack and both have their own fantastic four (CR7-Di Maria-Ozil-Higuain).

On paper, Argentina use 4-3-3, but in reality is more similar to 4-2-3-1 which is similar to Madrid.

---------------------Romero
--Campagnaro----Garay------Fernandez-----Zabaleta
--------------Gago----------Masche
----Higuain-----------Messi--------------Di Maria
---------------------Aguero

Messi has CR7 role but from the center which is basically free role, so it is almost like a false number 9. That's why Messi is everywhere on the pitch. Aguero and Higuain rotate. Sometimes one of them goes deeper than the other. Aguero is more often being the target man, that's why he was caught offside 3 times against Uruguay.

The only difference with Madrid is that Madrid have a playmaker with "limited role" in Ozil. Why limited role? Because not all attacks go through Ozil, it goes through Di Maria and CR7 from both wings more often. That's why Ozil numbers are a lot better in Germany where he's the heart and soul of the team than in Madrid.

Argentina don't have a real playmaker, Messi plays in Ozil's position, but Messi's role is a lot more important than Ozil. He's everything, the false #9, the second striker, the attacking midfielder, and the playmaker. As long as Messi and Di Maria start, a playmaker is not needed at all because it is their jobs.

The one position with limited role in fantastic four, at least in the game against Uruguay is Higuain. Higuain had to play the role of the old Higuain of Madrid, the right sided forward (like Muller does for Germany). That's why Higuain did not even have a single chance for Argentina against Uruguay because he was rarely used as target man.

I think our current team could be a great challenge to Barca had there been two Messis.

yes, maybe the surprise Sabella - will play Mathias as he know and accustomed to several Chile players and style or Sabella will drop Gago to play deeper. All is dynamic and progress with lots of possibility

Does anybody know if Chile still plays with 3 in the back? if that's the case the pressure from the fab 4 will be unbearable for the defense of Chile.

For me Zabaleta best position will be in right and enjoy the role of water carrier to helps the F-4;his movement and over lapping is quite good and still best choice

Maybe its my Boca blood showing regarding Clemente. Its also possible that Sabella could start Campagnaro on the left and keep Zabaleta on the right.

Camp or clemente shouldn't even be a choice, I would take Campagnaro over any of our defenders in any of the positions, the guy is amazing in napoli, THE best in a squad full of talent. The only issue going against Camp is his age and I believe thats the reason why Sabella doesn't start him.

I like to see Campag to start first and or maybe will be replace by Clemente in the second half.

In my opinion German Denis will not be called by Sabella although he is a tank and destroyer. Sabella prefer Barcos and Martinez who have been in the squad and trained together;

Chile game will be tough and hard as they will press and marks heavily the fantastic 4, need to penetrate thru winger with Dimaria and Messi creativity.

@ Redondo, thats actually his nickname if i remember correctly "the tank Denis" obviously in Spanish it flows better haha, he is a classic number 9 player he is very good but idk if good enough to be in the national team. As we have Barcos as Higuians backup we don't really need another.

@Johnny, Even though Clemente does play left regularly for Boca, Campagnaro was sent on as a sub for Rojo when he got injured I thought he played very well for the time he was on. Thoughts?

Did you guys see playing German Denis for atalanta in serie a ?

What's your opinion about him , i would like to see him get a call in the NT .

This guy is physical , like a tank , experienced , been scoring lately a whole lot . Great aerial ability , which might get complimented by Di Maria .

Inter Milan making a bid for him in the january transfer window .

1. I am surprised to see people raising doubts over Higuain based on couple of matches. His Real Madrid games has dented his confidence & Iam sure he will bounce back with big bang.
2. We are playing better whenver we play fantastic 4. As someone Messi is the man behind to persudade Sabella to go for fantastic 4. In that case credit should also go to Messi here for results.
3. I somehow feel that moving forward Messi may also get involved in referring some players for selection. So his involvement will be both on & off the pitch which is fine by me.

@Johnny, he did go for Campg as the go to sub when Rojo was hurt. I actually like Zabaleta on the left better, he is less comfortable running up the field, which is good! Campg is the strongest we got in my opinion. The stats and his class say so too.

You'd have to think it would be Clemente. He plays regularly for Boca on the left side.
