Boca Juniors want Fernando GAGO

Boca Juniors are interested in getting back Fernando GAGO.

Juan Carlos CRESPI, vice president of Boca Juniors has stated that Fernando GAGO could go back to the club. Speaking to the media, here is what he had to say:

"He wants to come back, and there is a chance. If we don't at least ask Real Madrid about him, we would be fools. We must at least do that."

"He could come here on a reduced salary. In fact he was on the point of coming earlier but the former president said that he wanted him on a free transfer and the Spaniards went crazy."

"Who doesn't want GAGO back at Boca? It would be a great solution."

Seriously, one of my favorite players. I've heard people say he's injury prone (he had one bad year of injuries but looked great at Roma laster year) and he's old (he's only 26!).

I don't get it. Why the big spending teams like PSG, Man City, Chelsea haven't tried to scoop this guy on the cheap (how much can RM possibly get for a bench warmer with one year left on his contract?) is beyond me.

I was sure to see Johnny's comment when related to Boca. I want him back to Buenos Aires as well. Keep in mind that River is back to the primera and they are boosting up the team and looking for the title.

Gogo back to Boca is better than being benched and ignored. In fact he's underrated in Europe, Roma didn't even try to get his rights and pull him out of Mourinho's county.
He would be a benefit to any club he joins, doesn't cost financially!!

A move to PSG would sound great "pairing with Pastore and Lavezzi".

Otherwise, Boca needs him and vice versa he needs La Bombonera!

It is most unfortunate that some of our very best players are not wanted in Europe, at the same time a few players of less ability secure their position in some big clubs (i am not underestimating anybody)! what is important is that Gago should retain his position in the national team. Coming back to Bocca should not affect his NT career. He is the best Argentine midfielder today as far as i am concerned.

I don't know whether this season is going to be less interesting for the Argentine fans who watches European leagues because i haven't heard of any big transfer roumers so far. i also heard that Nico Gaitan move to Man Utd is going to be failed. If somebody knows anything about this, please reply. The link is

@dante
i totally agree in the idea that the gago does not need to prove a point.

@ dante - total respect in the belief that a player needs continuity.

the issue is not gago's ability or his position in the NT at stake. its my query on comparing the rigourous demands of europe to that of south america.
granted we dont get much coverage over here to state an accuraet opinion. its just find europe the place to be

I agree with @Dante. The number one thing for a player is continuity and confidence. Gago is getting none at Madrid.. He should move asap to ANY club at any pay that will start him guaranteed. Boca would be fine. First, we need to keep some quality players at home to raise the overall level of the leauge. Second, as a defensive midfielder he will keep his level just fine in Boca.

Now with Roman gone the team is crap. Gago should go to Boca to help out that midfield. He doesn't have to prove himself to me. I know he's a great midfielder and so does Sabella.

@fred

i can understand the wage cap, i can even acknowledge players willing to take a cut in pay to represent at the highest level.

gago is considered amongst us a near-genuine ideal midfielder. he needs to be realistic with his own form and reconsider that stature has far more importance than his bank balance.

unless he reckons he has a guaranteed starting place in the NT! in wchich case performance has no bar!

he is a very good player and should be sort after, i dont understand why teams like my spurs, liver or the ars (just to name a few) should be on the phone to his agent today.

@vik
Wages are a big concern for Italian clubs.
Even AC Milan has a wage cap at only 4m (after tax, before tax = 8m).
Smaller clubs like Fiorentina who showed interest in Gago 1 or 2 years ago is capped around 2m (after tax).

agreed johnny! but he must be of interest to slightly smaller clubs??

i just cant see why the italians did not want him?
am i led to believe that we fans of the albiceleste are merely deluded into thinking that gago is force in world football??

the only good thing to come out of a move to boca is the chance to play in the copa liberatadores.

i would love to see gago, banega, pastore, lamela etc compete against the likes of xavi,alonso, iniesta, busquets, ribery, nasri and so on and be comfortable at it!

the ideal dream would be to get the bulk of our midfield playing for the same club!

Selfishly, I'd love to see Gago back with Boca, but I think vik is right. Though Boca would be better than rotting on the bench with Real Madrid.

i am sorry...but this is not a step forward. i would want him to compete at the highest level.

to be sure of a controlled and composed midfield, we must get the likes of gago staying in europe and playing regular champions league year in year out.
