BIELSA and SIMEONE in Europa League final

Marcelo BIELSA versus Diego SIMEONE in the final of the Europa League.

It will be the student against the teacher on Wednesday in final of the Europa League. Marcelona BIELSA who coached Diego SIMEONE while with the Argentine National Team, will now be playing against him on Wednesday.

Two very different styles of play. SIMEONE has his team playing in the same manner in which he played as a player. Atletico Madrid play a very physical game as they will try to stop BIELSA's Athletic Bilbao, who is set up as an attacking machine.

While there is a third Argentine in the set-up, Eduardo SALVIO for Atletico Madrid, the headlines are squarely on Marcelo BIELSA's Athletic Bilbao and Diego SIMEONE's Atletico Madrid.

Simeone showed a great potential from the first time he took charge as a coach. Diego, can, should, and will be the national team coach and he'll build a great team .. I just hope that'll be before 2014 !!

Yes Bielsa is never responsible for any failure. It's either bad luck or other random reasons that make his teams fail.

Bielsa is not responsible for his players wilting under the pressure.

Part of this is that his group finally lost to a team that is better on paper.

Argentina 2002 was the result of the collective pressure of expectation in the midst of a massive economic meltdown.

Chile lost to a Brazil side at the World Cup that probably should have been in the final. (I still don't see how the Netherlands didn't lose that game 5-0) in the first half.

Simeone has been a very nice surprise as far as coaching goes, and we shall see if his team can translate this into a CL finish next year.

OFF TOPIC:

RIQUELME led Boca Juniors into the next round of the Copa Libertadores last night. He played close to a perfect match, assisting on two goals (the first an absolute work of art), and scored a third himself. I'm not posting this as an advertisement for the NT, but letting everyone know that, when healthy, Roman is still a genius.

He's probably also still a pain in the butt, but that's another subject.

My condolences Chris.

Congrats to Cholo for the brilliant job he did at Atletico Madrid for only 5 months. Atletico was great in the final and he totally outsmarted Loco. Well not the first time Bielsa gets owned when it matters the most!

Now let's see how Barca smash them in the CDR final.
