Nicolas OTAMENDI scored for Manchester City in their 2-1 win of the Manchester derby.

It was his fourth league goal of the season (fifth overall) as he scored the second goal, which proved to be decisive, for Pep GUARDIOLA’s team. OTAMENDI has scored more Premier League goals this season than any other defender. The win takes Manchester City 11 points clear in the league and away from their neighbors in red following a Premier League record of a 14th consecutive victory.

So who is the better forward they have in their squad right now? Jesus? He is not even close to Aguero in terms of goal scoring. Before the incident Aguero was the best player in the team after KDB and Jesus wasn’t a regular starter for the team which shows us how much Pep relied on Aguero.

It is true that Aguero’s form has declined in the past one month and hafl, but he is a very good goal scorer when he is 100% fit and he could play very well with Messi at the WC. Since Pep took over Man City, Aguero developed a lot and he seems more dangarous in front of goal than he was before. I hope he stays fit for the rest of the season!

    • Yes, I think so too. Aguero progressed a lot with Pep, he works much more than before: we can see him quite frequently in the playmaker position. Besides he also helps defending and winning the ball in the midfield, which never happened before.

Not only him but Otamendi became another player too. We can see, for example the game vs Russia, that he is now really good with the ball because in Guardiola’s system(similar to that of Sampaoli), everything is built from behind so the CBs need to be good technically in order to ensure the passing.

Guardiola is a big fan of Bielsa and he has always had strong contribution to Argentina football(Messi/ Maschereno in the past and now Aguero/Otamendi with City). I wish more and more Argentine players can learn from him.

      • IMO, the two best club coaches that Argentine players can flourish under them are Pep and Pochettino. They both use Bielsa’s philosophy but with more flexibility.

I always wished to see at least one Argentine goalkeeper (Rulli for instance) and two midfielders (Di Maria and Pastore for instance) play under Pep. What I like most about him is the fact that he has ZERO tolerance for wastefullness and he instructs his players to take advange of every possible opportunity.

In one of his interviews Pep said that at country level he likes to coach Argentina and Mexico and one more country (Spain or Brazil, I am not sure). So it’s obvious he is a big fan of Argentine football.

On the other hand, Pochettino is very similar to Pep when it comes to youth development and the possession and press based play. He transformed Lamela into a better player and now Juan Foyth is on his way to the first team (he is an unused sabstitute in every game). If Tottenham qualified for the next round of the Carabao Cup he could’ve had more playing time but it’s almost impossible for him to get some playing minutes in the PL and CL due to his inexperience and age.

        • Yes you are right, both of them like to give young players their chance, especially Pochettino, almost half of the current England team are coached by him currently or in the past. It’s quite unbelievable and almost ironic for an Argentine who contributed that much to English football. Pep loves Argentina but not sure the traditional federation will hire a foreigner at this stage.

I am a big fan of Rulli, for sure the future belongs to him. But they just hired Ederson and they already have Bravo on the bench, I don’t know if they still want to invest on the goalkeeper. Same for Di Maria and Pastore, it’s already very full in midfield with Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Sterling on the bench. However I think they still need DM. Will love to see Ascacibar or Kranevitter in this position.

          • I am not saying Argentina needs Pep. I only wanted to mention that he is a big fan of Argentine players and Argentina football as a general. Argentina has some of the finest coaches in the world right now so I know there is no need for a coach from a different country.

It is true that Poch has coached most of the current Enland squad and still coaches some of their best players. He said recently he would like to coach England one day and he will not turn down that chance if his current employer allows him to leave the club (it’s obvious from his words that he wants to stay at Tottenham for quite a long time).

  2. Augreo is not gonna to go anywhere he is vital for Pep as Pep said “he was top before the accident I remember his performance vs Watford and others.Actually there is no space for him (in the box)with ten players but sooner or later he will come back to who he is “

  3. I looked at the forwards of both teams, and see Sane, Jesus, Rashford, Martial, Lingaard. All 19 and 20 year olds, and all these kids will be there at the World cup. Wonder why Argentina cannot give some youngsters a chance? Most notably, I would love to see Martinez get a chance. And by the way, Pep is planning to get rid of Aguero in the January window, to make his better and take advantage of the great position they find themselves in the league and try and go for the double (League and CL). Sadly, for him some of his choices are Cup tied in the CL, and only that could save Kun’s a**. They want to get rid of Kun to become better, and yet we keep calling this guy all the time.

    • aguero lost his best time now it’s up to sampaoli to give dybala a chance in his place, only then messi dybala partership will flourish.
