Argentina’s friendly match against Italy has possibly been cancelled.

As we reported last week, there are rumors of Argentina playing two friendly matches in March. Three possible opponents have been mentioned with Italy, Morocco and Belgium popping up as possible opponents.

According to ItaSportPress, following Italy’s World Cup playoff loss to Sweden, the AFA (Argentine Football Association) contacted FIGC (Italian Football Federation) requesting the match to be called off. One of the main factors being that the AFA fear that the Italian’s would play an experimental side with an interim coach.

The match has not yet been cancelled but we will keep you informed on any new news.

  1. Lanus slightly conceded to Gremio (0:1) in first final of CL. Still not bad as for game of 2nd team of Brazilian league against 17th team of Argentinian league.

    • Lanus rested the regulars all season long due to the Libertadores, but one of the 5 most strongest clubs(Boca, River, Lanus, and maybe San Lorenzo and Independiente), last year Rosario Central trashed this Gremio side 3:0 at home in Libertadores.

  2. Rojo looked solid. He has pace too. I wish he stay fit and get even better. Mercado-Otamendi-Rojo. Problem will be Mercado and Rojo not good with ball and distribution

  3. Yesterday in UCL there was some very few interesting inclusions. Rojo looked a beast as a defender. i doubt garay otamendi and rojo would make a perfect back 3. then ausgusto had a solid match. battaglia was also very solid in thier 3-1 win. aguero was misfiring. lo celso and di maria both came off the becnch. Messi is in his slump.romero was solid too.

  4. Kily Gonzalez challenging the ball with Damiano Tommasi! This picture took my memory back to almost two decades. Whenever I remember how strong that Argentina team was and how easily they failed to qualify from the group stage I feel big disappointment. Marcelo Bielsa’s lack of flexibility cost Argentins a lot. Wish Sampa will not take down that path.
