Manuel Lanzini

Following Argentina’s draw against Colombia, Manuel LANZINI and coach Julio OLARTICOECHEA both took to the media to talk about the match. Here’s what they had to say:

“This was the first time we actually played seriously and we’re slowly getting to know each other.”

“I’m happy with it, the substitutes did well. It’s a small group but they left everything on the pitch.”

Two days ago Russo became the favorite to land the job of national coach. Today Bauza seems to be the front runner.

We can say almost anything about AFA, but boring they ain’t…

National football association (AFA) chief Armando Perez is to fly to Spain to speak to Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone and Sevilla’s Jorge Sampaoli.

And while in Europe he will sound out Pochettino, 44, Argentina FA sources told broadsheet La Nacion.

Ex-Argentina international Pochettino is contracted by Spurs until 2022.

Perez also plans to speak to Lionel Messi. He wants the Barcelona forward and former Argentina captain to reverse his recent decision to quit international football.

Messi made the decision last month after the national side lost to Chile on penalties in the Copa America final. Coach Gerardo Martino resigned a week later, reportedly over problems in naming a side for next month’s Rio Olympics.

“It would be gratifying for everyone to persuade Messi to desist from his decision to quit,” Perez told reporters.

It is good that they are trying. If any one will accept part time trainer it is likely to be sampaoli.

You can’t just hope that all of the players will put a standout performance in their first game together.Lo Celso is one of the most talented player in this squad,he will show his worth.Calleri is also a good talent,he could score atleast 2 goals in this match. He just need to find his rythm and confidence, otherwise we have a problem. We don’t have Icardi,Dybala,Vietto with us.I don’t how much good Simeone junior can do.

I just hope the no.9 position and goal scoring doesn’t become our Achilles heel here too just like with the National team.
And I also would prefer Lanzini to play in midfield in place of Lo Celso and have Espinoza start on the wide.

Correa must play more altruistic. And Calleri must do something with his own. He was shadow.

We should have someone forward like Lucas Janson on the bench. Calleri was so static.

Probably the best thing Calleri did was his pase de tacón to Simeone, just before the penalty. That would have been a nice goal had the Colombian goalie not saved it well. Calleri is not a bad player IMO, just needs to grow in confidence.

        I think so
