Angel DI MARIA and Javier PASTORE both trained separately from the rest of the team on Tuesday.

Both players are ruled out for Argentina’s Quarter Final match. Aside from DI MARIA and PASTORE, Tata MARTINO will be able to count on every other player in the squad for the team’s Quarter Final match.

  1. Deigo about icardi

Maradona was asked if Icardi should be picked for Argentina’s squad for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, but the 1986 World Cup winner gave a blunt response.

“He could be captain of the cosmos, but to me he does not exist,” he told Radio Metro.

“After what happened I’m a fan of Maxi Lopez.

“You feed him, you let him in your house and then this happens?”

    • Let him say, whatever he wants. Everyone has right to show their opinions. And no one can expect his opinion will match with others.

Even i have different opinion on this issue. But the question to Maradona was on Icardi’s Olympic selection. And i think, he should have judged Icardi on his club performance.

Btw, Didn’t he said, “Messi has no leadership ability” recently?

    • When you don’t like others opinion. You always they must leave. If you can’t stand others opinions you’re the one who needs to fucking leave and go create your own Argentine football page and his how many will join your stupid autocracy.

  2. So far except the injured Pastore and the 2 reserved keepers (Guzman and Andujar), all our players have at least played some minutes in this Copa.
We have only played 3 group matches and we have already used 20 out of 23 of our players, is this a world record?

  3. For the players who are on one yellow card (Mascherano, A. Fernandez, Banega, Rojo, Gaitan, Cuesta, Di Maria), only Mascherano, A. Fernandez, Banega and Rojo are likely starters for the Venezuela match.
Just hope that all four of them can avoid another card in the Venezuela match, so that if we win, we can have full squad to face USA.

  4. No reason for not calling Dybala. Icardi. ..at least one..
    Lanzini or Vietto. ..

Injuries are frustrating in Copa. ..
Why carry injured pastore or others

  5. By the way, the Venezuela game is at the same stadium where we opened world cup 1994 and beat Greece 4-0.

  6. USA will have two more days to rest for the semi.

We have only two days and will have to fly about 2 thousand miles. The team will be very tired, US will be fresh.

  7. This was all fix from the get go, two South American teams vs two North American teams playing for the final.Chile will be out for this same reason.

  8. Three USA players will be suspended in the semi final (7.Bobby Wood [FW], 11. Alejandro Bedoya[MF], 13.Jermaine Jones[MF],) as they have collected their second yellow card/red card in this quarter final match.

Advantage to Argentina (if we beat Venezuela)

    • I was talking about this with my wife during the game. I think without Jones and especially Wood, the US doesn’t have a chance against Argentina. If it was against Venezuela, I think the US could win.

      • Yea, and it’s like Argentina never played against Venezuela before? Counter attacking is part of football; you’re saying nothing new. Let me say this, the USA team lack quality. The game between USA and Ecuador was lacking quality from the first whistle. If you told me before the tournament that Argentina could possible face USA in the semis and not Colombia or Brazil, I would’ve laugh at you. It’s the same for Venezuela making it over Uruguay. I’m not trying to get ahead of myself but Venezuela and USA is not quality teams, this doesn’t mean we should take them likely. Venezuela is at the bottom of CONMEBOL world cup qualifiers without a win, so I was surprise they made it out of the group.

        • Not saying USA can’t play, they’re just not good enough[yet]. I was not surprise they beat Ecuador. Ecuador only play well in Quito at Altitude. Yea, USA did well at the 2014 world cup, they knock out both Portugal and Ghana in the group stage, but this is not the same USA side, the same can be said for Costa Rica too. Jozy Altidore not making it was a big blow for US.

        • I know what you are saying. I’m just pointing out that they both teams, if we advance, will play counter attack football. So I hope they don’t play 2 DM. Where as, if we played Chile or Colombia in final then 2 DM could be an option

  9. Poor first half from Ecuador, it seems like Quito is the only place Ecuador can look formidable. In the last five meetings between the two teams; it’s three wins for the USA, one win for Ecuador and a draw. This scoreline is not surprising. If Ecuador doesn’t play better they’re surely going out.

  10. Di Maria will be needed for the final, the team are in high spirit to advance further , prefer to have Kun played behind Higuain , the 4-4-2 scheme is more suitable to face Venezuela with his counter attack and bus parking. Yes, the injury and short rested time is a big concern for the team; that’s why Tata should be aware on the players rotation and fitness. Tata is gambling on Pastore and Biglia fitness, last game Biglia did well and deserved to get a subs on next game. Vamos

  11. Hello…does anyone know of an Argentina Watch Party in Orlando, FL??
I am tired of watching games next to Colombians who always root for an Argentina loss (they are haters because they are the little brother that thinks he is big)…so please advise of Argentina Watch Party in Orlando..Thank You

  12. My biggest concern in the Copa is the terrible scheduling. Colombia rested 5 days before the QF and will rest 4 days for the Semi-final. Argentina will rest 3 for QF and ONLY 2 days for the Semi-final. As alluded to in the most recent article posted…playing an aggressive style can lead to us being burnt out. Furthermore, we have had the worst cross-country travel of any team…After the semis– we rest 4 days…one more day then the other semi- who play on Wednesday. If we go up on Ven 3-0..we should sub out Messi and other key pieces. What do you think?

  14. Pastore isn’t Messi, so I don’t understand why Martino brings an average player and injury in the team where Dybala is not part of the team. If we had Dybala we would have more options and the team would be more compact.
    My rosters vs Venezuela

  15. I will never ever forgive palacios and Higuain for their misses in 2014
    Never
Bitches score for clubs but don’t have the balls for Argentina

    Go to hell cowards !!!

    • Second that, especially for Higuain. He has been a perennial under-performer and still gets to start with Argentina-shocking. He lost to Benzema in pecking order at RM – that also says a lot. Aguero might be vulnerable to injury but he’s a consistent performer, and has made more of the chances he gets in NT. And ofcourse Dybala has to be now groomed/ tested. Higuain does not even make good of his height advantage over other Argentinean attackers. Yes, he should have been forgotten since that WC final.

  16. This is good news as it was never expected that di maria or pastore were anyway’s going to be available for this knockout game against venezuala. But more importantly we have the full set of players apart from these 2 available which will give the coach martino options to tinker with the line up and switch accordingly as the game plays out. My first thought is venezuala will want to keep argentina quiet in the first half with a more agressive approach and also park the bus, so it would be best if we play with wing backs and 2 upfront with the 4-2-3-1 formation we played in the second half against panama and also in the first half against bolivia. That way we can be more aggressive against a shrewd defence and also be more pressing at the point of attack. This would hopefully nullify and help us score in the first half which will completely open up the game in the second half and we can put that game to bed at that point of time. Go Argentina, Vamos !!!

  17. Atleast Mercado is available. Fit or injured Strong competition was awaiting pastore from Lamela,Lavezi and Gaitan. Either way he won’t find it easy to penetrate in to current 11, even Banega is onfire comparing to him currently. I have a feeling this time that Di maria won’t be ruled away entirely unlike in his previous curses.

After all,the much needed confidience of the team is very aparent since the last qualfication matches in the team and it is grawing ridiclously in this tournament than….
