Gabriel MERCADO leaves training, BIGLIA, more

12

Possibly another injury concern for Argentina, this time with Gabriel MERCADO. MERCADO had to leave training due to thigh strain. His participation in the last group match against Bolivia is up in the air but looks like he could miss it. Facundo RONCAGLIA would be his substitute.

Lucas BIGLIA trained normally with the rest of the squad and his recovery is going well. It would be a massive surprise if BIGLIA were to start against Bolivia but if he is fit, could see some minutes.

Angel DI MARIA did some running in the last training session but will not be available for the match on Tuesday.

  1. I seriously can’t see what Lamela and Gaitan has done to deserve playing in this tournament, specially Lamela, I have seen him enough and he never delivers, don’t know why he is so hyped.

  2. Let’s play Kranevitter,Lamela, Aguero in place of yellow carded players
Keep playing Gaitan as we not many options. ….

I don’t also want injured players to play .like Biglia pastore Mercado lavezzi

Big Truth – as competition moves on martino’s faith in injured players seems to be dangerous. …Though I wish that doesn’t cost us.

Icardi Dybala Correa Vietto Lanzini if present there in the bench there would been less anxious ness ..but not happened

Hope Biglia Pastore starts playing against Bolivia

I want to see Kranevitter very much to play in Mascherano’s position as he is yellow carded

  3. Hi everyone
it’s been a while since I’m reading comments on mundo, now it is time for us to celebrate with our be loved Argentina after 23years trophyless. I think the rain is about to drop this time because the way Messi started this competition is similar with the one in Olympics 2008 where he came off the bench and made a uge impact. I hope that they can stay confident, calm, and fight for the victory until the last seconds .
I think Martino should go with this line up for the next game.
    Romero
    Roncaglia victor C. Maidana Rojo

    Fernandez Pastore Biglia

    Lamela Aguero Gaitan

The main players should have a rest while others players can get some minutes and get mold with the team, we might need one of them to fulfill someone task ,therefore, it is the right moment to experiment.

    vamos Argentina.

  4. All,
Hmm…interesting look to mundo. Not sure if I like it. BTW, did we lose all our previous comments and kudos? That will be a bummer.

Anyway, was at Chicago for our game and also at Boston last night for the Brazil game and will be there on Saturday also for the QF.

Some key points from Chicago game:

    1. I know many here do not rate Messi that well. But this guy is a genius. I have seen him 5 times now and he has scored 8 in those 5. So, you can call me a “lucky guy”. But here is my observation: Till 60 mins it looked like scoring goals is the hardest thing in the world and for the remaining 30 mins it looked as if scoring goals is the easiest thing to do and its the same opponent, same game, same field, same night. Huge difference.

    2. Nico Gaitan is very ordinary. He is committed, but just does not have the skill.

    3. The defense is very shaky.

    4. Funes Mori is very good in the air and wins a lot of balls.

    5. If Higuain has time to think to score, he will probably miss it.

    Glad Brazil is out 🙂

  5. From what I have seen since Sabella tenure is that Messi loves playing in the United States along with the rest of the Argentina squad. This is now Messi second hat trick playing in the USA. Messi is well love here unlike in Spain and Argentina, people in the states appreciates a legend when they see one. Every sport teams and professional players in the USA are just crazy about Messi. Messi fan base in the USA is second to none. This current Argentina roster always feel at home here in the States since Sabella first tour here back in 2012.

It’s no surprise Brazil got knockout. People are acting surprise here, let’s be honest, this was a really average Brazilian team. Brazil scored 7 goals against Haiti yet failed to score a single goal against both Ecuador (who should have won the first game) and Peru. Haiti today is what Ecuador and Peru use to be 25 years ago. Brazil is trending backwards while it’s lesser Latin neighbors has improved over the last 25 years. Brazil currently sits outside of the playoff spot in the CONBEMOL 2018 WCQ, and with games away to Ecuador and at home to Colombia coming up, Brazil can see themselves going further down the table and missing out on the 2018 world cup.

As long as the team stay grounded we will win the cup. Argentina won’t face another physical playing team like Panama from here on now to the final. This is a good thing, the game against Panama was the fear I had playing against Uruguay, not that I’m scare of them, it’s just with the rivalry the players are always at risk of picking up a double yellow/red card suspension and possible injuries. This was the case against Panama, we had players picking up unnecessary yellow cards plus a Di Maria injury, and now Mercado is suffering from a thigh strain, it’s a good thing this is not a tear muscle. The team is on a role; everyone is confident at the moment. After that brutal 2014 world cup knockout stage run for our team, I would take playing against Venezuela in the quarter and the USA in the semifinal in a heartbeat. It’s about time we get less stressing games heading towards a major final. This is not to say Argentina must underestimate Venezuela and USA/Ecuador in the upcoming games, we have to be well prepared as if we were going up against Germany or Holland at the world cup. With the talent we possess at the moment, I don’t see why I as a fan should have any doubts in the team.

  6. Finger crossed overhere from encountering any further likely injuries. Why is this intervention, injury, happening against players that we count more?

Well, atleast unlike the previous misfortunes, it is not happening against crucial after group stage matches. Hope there is enough recovery time for Mercado and Dimaria to avail themselve in latter stages.
